ANA CAROLINA COUTINHO

 

The Brazilian soprano Ana Carolina Coutinho is currently studying vocal performance at the Hoschschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. Mark Tucker and Prof. Burkhard Kehring (Lied class). Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor Vocal Studies at the University Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Brazil in 2015, during which time she has already performed numerous specialist roles such as Serpina in «La Serva Padrona», Geraldine in «A Hand of Bridge» and Laetitia in «The Old Maid and the Thief». In 2016 she appeared as Mademoiselle Silberklang in «Der Schauspieldirektor» and as Walter in «La Wally» at the opera academy of «Theatro Sao Pedro» in Sao Paulo. 

 

Ana Carolina Coutinho took part in master classes with Laurent Naouri, Eiko Senda, Xenia Mejer, Margreet Honig, Roger Vignoles, Vivica Genaux and Edith Mathis. In January 2019 she performed at the Schubert Week in the Boulez Hall, Berlin, and at the Lied Academy Heidelberger Frühling, conducted by Thomas Hampson. She sang as a soloist and choral singer under the direction of conductors such as Stefan Weilar, Rolf Beck, Tan Dun, Helmuth Rilling and David Zinman. As a scholarship holder she was supported by the Chorakademie Lübeck, the Arthur Pfungst Foundation and the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now e.V. Hamburg. In February 2018 she was prizewinner of the Mozart Competition of the Absalom Foundation Hamburg and in September 2018 she took part in the Hugo Wolf Competition with the pianist Megumi Kurods.

 

She is currently a fellow of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation.
