ARNE VANDERVELDE

 

Arne Vandervelde grew up in Hoeilaart, Belgium and started dancing at the age of six. By the age of 9 he started to train at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp where he graduated in 2013. During his school years he participated in several international ballet competitions including Prix de Lausanne, Helsinki IBC and YAGP 2012. For both, classical and contemporary solos he was awarded scholarships, silver and bronze medals as well as the Dance Europe prize. Upon graduating Arne joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders as an apprentice, moving up to the corps de ballet in 2014. Arne has danced extensively in the corps de ballet. His highlights included more noticeable roles as the Standard Bearer in 'The Green table' by Kurt Joos, the principle role in Ricardo Amarante's 'In Flanders Fields' and the role of prince désiré in Marcia Haydee's Sleeping Beauty. Arne joined the Wiener Staatsballet in 2016 as a member of the corps de ballet. Since than he has danced many more classical and contemporary ballets including 2 pieces choreographed by Eno Peci.
