Bowie Verschuuren (1985) is a photographer from The Netherlands. After high school he moved to Amsterdam to study film and later philosophy at the university. It was not before long when he discovered the power of the image, and took up photography and film, who have not left him ever since. Having focused mainly on documentary and portraiture in the past, Bowie’s work is shifting more and more towards the staged scene, together with an exploration of the non­figurative image, as a result of his attraction to clear geometrical shapes. Together with this love of abstraction, he is very much inspired by the cinema. The structured ways in which it tells stories, and the classics in cinematography, have left their mark on his work as a photographer. Bowie takes pictures for the Origen Festival Cultural since 2014.
