DANIEL ISSA

 

Born in Brazil, tenor Daniel Issa first studied architecture at the University of São Paulo before moving to Switzerland to train as a singer at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and the Lucerne School of Music. On the opera stage Daniel Issa has been at the Zurich Opera House (Holliger's «Lunea» and Lachenmann's «Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzer»), at the Basel Theatre (Purcell's «The Fairy Queen», Charpentier's «Medée» and Nono's «Al Gran Sole Carico d'Amore»), at the Biel-Solothurn Theatre (Bellini's «Sonnambula») at the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth (Jaquet de La Guerre's «Céphale et Procris») and at the Festival di Musica Antica di Salerno (Orlandini's «Il Marito Giocatore»), but also in contemporary works such as «Un Tango pour Monsieur Lautrec» by Jorge Zulueta at the Festival Stand'été in Moutier or «Mord im Sankt Johann» by Andreas Pflüger. His concert activities have taken him to many European countries, Brazil and China, performing a repertoire ranging from Monteverdi's Vespers and Bach's Passions to Stravinsky's «Les Noches». Several CD recordings document his artistic work.
