was born in Freiburg i. Br. and studied drums in orchestral music and subsequently music pedagogy in Mannheim with Prof. Dennis Kuhn. She regularly performs at the theatre Pforzheim, theatre Giessen and at the «Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern». Her concert activities led her to the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Nurnberg Symphony Orchestra as wekk as to the theatre Basel and the Collegium Musicum Basel. From 2008 to 2009 she had an engagement as a solo timpanist at the State Opera Hannover and from 2010 to 2011 as a solo timpanist at the «Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern». She performs as a drummer and timpanist at the Qatar Philarmonic Orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel. Heidi Merz is timpanist at the Festival Orchestra Arco and at the Göttinger Baroque Orchestra.
