According to the baroque the world is a stage. Human beeings are the actors. The human appearance on the "boards that mean the world" corresponds to the birth. The final curtain equals death. The actual home is heaven, called by Dante "Paradiso". Eternity is the only goal for which it is worth living. Staying on earth is a temporary exile, a trial period and at the end there is (maybe) the sky. Humanity is starving in a foreign land according to the baroque.
