Jo Holzwarth made his first musical experiences in the boys' choir «collegium iuvenum stuttgart». After training as a carpenter, he studied singing in the class of Teru Yoshihara at the Staatliche Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Various solo engagements quickly followed throughout Germany, and concert tours through Europe and Asia have shaped his artistic life. He is a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart and freelancer for the SWR Vocal Ensemble. Master classes with the Calmus Ensemble, Singer Pur and the King's Singers gave him impulses. Jo Holzwarth is tenor of the Ensemble Encore, with which he won the amarcord-award at the International a cappella competition 2017 in Leipzig and the 1st Züblin Kulturpreis 2017 in Stuttgart. In the 2016/17 season Jo Holzwarth was an academician in the SWR Vocal Ensemble. In 2016 he recorded the first CD with Ars Antiqua Austria with works by Isfried Kayser. A recording with Concerto Köln and Joseph Haydn's Harmoniemesse followed in 2017.
