SCHOSCHANA KOBELT

Schoschana Kobelt grew up in a family home shaped by music in the Glarnerland. From an early age she sang in various choirs, began playing the cello at the age of 9 and received regular singing lessons from Dorothea Frey at 15. She studied singing (mezzo-soprano) at the Lucerne University of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Prof. Peter Brechbühler and graduated with a Master's degree in vocal pedagogy in summer 2012. She is currently receiving further training with Ursula Eittinger (Freiburg i. Br.). Regular work and courses with Romeo Alavi Kia (Vienna), Prof. Mag.art Sebastian Vittucci (Vienna), Viktoria Osipova (Odessa) and Margreet Honig (Amsterdam) enrich her education. At the beginning of 2015 she was awarded a sponsorship prize by the GARTENFLÜGEL Foundation. She performs as a soloist throughout Switzerland and abroad. Her solo activities include oratorios and church music concerts, as well as song programmes and chamber music concerts. An important aspect of her work is the study of the Russian language, which is a focal point in song programmes. She sings in various ensembles (Basler Madrigalisten, Zurich Chamber Singers, Origen). Together with the Basler Madrigalisten, she performed in the 19/20 season at Zurich Opera House in the ballet production «Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern» by Helmut Lachenmann, conducted by Matthias Hermann.

She is also a co-founder of the Dornbusch Quintet, an ensemble that has set itself the task of putting together programmes designed to provide an easier access to classical music in a playful way. In addition to her concert activities, she works as a singing teacher and has been leading music camps for children and young people for many years. In addition to her work as a singer, she devotes more and more time to playing the cello.
