SILVIA AZZONI

 

Born in Torino/Italy, Silvia Azzoni completed her dance education at the School of the Hamburg Ballet. She is a member of the Hamburg Ballet ensemble since 1993, was appointed Soloist in 1996 and Principal dancer in 2001. The creations with John Neumeier include roles such as  Olga Preobrajenska in «Nijinsky», Silvia in «Préludes CV», The Angel  in «Weihnachtsoratorium I–VI», The Concept in «Death in Venice» and  The  Rival (Sarah Bernhardt) in «Duse».

 

In Stephan Thoss' choreographie «Rennen hinter dem was flieht» she created the role of «the woman»; Jiří Bubeníček created for her «Unerreichbare Orte» and Yuka Oishi  «Ouroboros» for «Junge Choreografen» 2015. Silvia Azzoni danced in many Theaters around the world (e.g. Munich, Milan, Moscow, Warsaw, Tokyo, Paris or St. Petersburg, Bahrain).

With the  Royal Ballet in London and  the State Theater of Warsaw she danced the role of  Nikija in «La Bayadère».

Silvia Azzoni was awarded with the «Dr-Wilheim-Oberdörffer Preis» (1996); the «Danza&Danza Preis» (2004); the «Ralf Mares Preis» for her interpretation in «The Little Mermaid» (2006); Les Étoiles de Ballet 2000 Dance Award; the «Positano Preis» as Outstanding Female Dancer (2013); the «Premio Roma» (2014). In 2016 she became «Cavaliere of the order of Merit» from the Repubblica Italiana.

 

For Origen she performed in the productions «Kaiserin Irene» by Giovanni Netzer and «Trümmer» by Thiago Bordin (both in 2022).
