SWIFT FINANCING

The funds to save and expand Mulegns are raised by the Confederation, canton and municipalities, cultural foundations and patrons, business and tourism.

START OF CONSTRUCTION IN 2019

In October last year, the works for the relocation of the «White Villa» in Mulegns have started.

THE WORKS ARE PROGRESSING ON SCHEDULE

In the meantime, the works have progressed well. The historic floors and wooden doors of the cellar vaults have been carefully removed and prepared for reinstallation. The distinctive cellar walls of the house have already been largely removed and stand on heavy steel columns that will ensure the relocation. A concrete beam supports the brickwork. A special technical challenge is the displacement of the baking oven, which is to be integrally preserved in the confectioner's house.

RELOCATION OF THE «WHITE VILLA» SCHEDULED FOR MID-AUGUST 2020

If things continue well, the relocation of the «White Villa» could take place in the second half of August 2020. The redesign of the exterior space and the road correction should be largely completed by the end of 2020.

«POST HOTEL LÖWE» REFURBISHMENTFROM FROM SUMMER 2020 ONWARDS

In summer 2020, the cultural institution will carry out the first renovation measures at the «Post Hotel Löwe» and will use the large complex as an innovative travel museum with experimental hotel operations, catering and confectionery from 2021 onwards. After a trial phase lasting until 2023, extensive renovation measures will be carried out. The Department of Digital Building Technologies of the ETH will contribute a unique spatial installation that interprets the emigration, travel and pioneering spirit of the inhabitants of Mulegns in a contemporary way and propels them into the digital age.
