was born in 1974 in Basel. She studied piano at the conservatory in Winterthur. She took classes at the jazz school in Basel and developed a passion for folk songs, blues and chansons. The pianist performs with various projects such as the duo «Kappeler-Zumthor», «Tuliasia» and «grünes Blatt».

She received the advancement award of Winterthur and the ZKB jazz prize in 2008. In 2011 she was awarded the Suisa-Jazz prize. She performs at festivals like the Jazzfestival Wilisau and the festival «Alpentöne». Vera Kappeler teaches piano at the music school Prova in Winterthur and at the jazz department of the conservatory Lucerne.
